The Countdown is on!!!!!!

We are getting ready for our first Project ASCENT field trip on October 15th! Make sure that permission slips and payments are in ASAP. Students will need to have a packed lunch on Thursday, October 15th. It is going to be an exciting day!

Immigrant Interviews

Today we researched immigrants who have contributed to American Society. We focused on eight immigrants that have impacted American life. Students have a task to bring back props, clothing, etc. to help them become their immigrant for next week's session. We will be creating a television show to showcase what we have learned about these famous immigrants!

We had a great first day!

Our very first day of Project ASCENT has come and gone. The students did a wonderful job digging right into our topic of immigration. We did a lot in our three hours together including creating this acrostic poem about immigration:

Immigrate

Meet Americans

Many people came to America

In the 1800's and now

Grant the wish of freedom

Really excited, tired, hopeful

America welcomes you

The lady welcomes you

Immigrants are all different

On the land of the free

Now you are home!

Our First Session

Tomorrow we will meet for the very first time at Taylor Mill Elementary. I am very excited to meet everyone and start on our adventure together!!
